AIXA RUMBAUT’S CHILDREN FIRST ART CLASSES
For the past 3 years, Senior Rvo member Aixa Rumbaut (seen in the 1st and 5th photograph) has hosted art classes at Children First, a kindergarten readiness program in our community. With commendable dedication (and despite her rigorous academic schedule), Aixa has held art classes on a weekly basis, often bringing new Ringling student volunteers along to participate in the fun. Senior RVo member Lari Alejandro (seen in 2nd photo) has been a faithful participant in Aixa’s program for 2 years, along with Sophomore RVo member John Treanor who is new to our team, and student Raquel Kidd!
These art classes occur every Wednesday and Thursday, from 10-11am at the 33rd St. Children First location. I tagged along with Aixa today, and as soon as we walked in, the kids charged the door and climbed over one another to give her hugs. It was immediately clear to me how much these kids love Miss Aixa and the art classes that they share together!
Today we made crowns—the little ones got to choose their favorite color paper (by name), and glue all sorts of fun decor to them before fastening them with a pipe cleaner and proudly strutting about with their creations perched atop their heads. What a blast!
We are so proud of Aixa and the impact she has been making at this wonderful non-profit!! Thank you for everything you do!
